THE ART OF DOING A LOT WITH A LITTLE
See how the simple act of showing up to help led to the connection of knowledge to need — and a new Clement Waters program in 2024.
We know firsthand that much good can be done with minimal amounts, thanks to our networks willing to share their stores and put in time and effort here and there. Over the years, our inspiring grassroots project partners have also shown such amazing persistence through the toughest times. They grew up learning how to show up and show out through hardship.

But we noticed that everyone has their operational limit, and when a grassroots founder hits theirs, sometimes the right kind of ready help just isn't around. Well-meaning locals with paperwork skills often don't have enough free time or energy left after work to go save the day when a big hairy bureaucratic problem starts hurting the community effort.
From where our grassroots founder friends sit, it is so hard to continue delivering much-needed mental-health relief and food-growing help when a strange administrative problem hits them when there is no money to pay for an exact answer.
Because we watched many community-born grassroots leaders solve survival needs with culturally-accepted solutions when real suffering hit their communities — often at astoundingly low costs — it broke our hearts when the threat of some official-sounding crisis threatened to topple everything they had built.
Their street-level miracles just can't be duplicated by larger, more institutionalized, outsider organizations. These grassroots leaders are the ones who need to be delivering these services that they put together when they rose to satisfy a painful need.
So in 2024 we founded a consulting service that honors the wisdom that community-raised founders bring to the table. We did not anticipate all of our learning that would happen along the way. Let's just say, our Groundswell Growth clients do a lot more amazing works than just controlling costs, and we want the world to know.

Grassroots founders often see what outsiders miss: the lowest-cost, most accepted answers that fit local culture and the real pain people feel. And astonishingly, they often opt for sustainable methods within a respectful way of honoring Mother Earth. You can't get better than that.
